Hey, I'm Groot! I'm a 2-year-old lab mix, and I've only been at the shelter for about a week. I can be pretty shy when we first meet, but if you give me some time, patience, and kindness, I'll slowly come out of my shell and show you my sweet personality. What I'm really looking for is a calm, loving home with people who will help me feel safe and comfortable while I learn to trust and settle in. Once I warm up, I love to play, spend time with my people, and soak up all the snuggles I can get. I may need a little extra patience at first, but I promise I have so much love to give to the right family.

Canine Adult adoption fee (canines over six months of age): $120*

Canine Puppy adoption fee (canines under six months of age): $150*

Canine Specialty Breeds adoption fee: $200-$400

All Feline adoption fee: $80 $60* thanks to a generous sponsorship from Animal Hospital of Nicholasville

Feline Specialty adoption fee: $100-$300*

*Our adoption fee includes the animals spay/neuter surgery, a rabies vaccination, FVRCP (for felines), FIV/FELV test (for felines), Jessamine County license (for canines if the adopter lives within Jessamine County), DAPPV vaccine (for canines), deworming, flea and tick treatment, fecal and heartworm exam, and a voucher for a free health exam by a partnered Nicholasville veterinarian (ask a staff member for details).

We cannot guarantee the health of our animals’ past adoption and recommend a visit to your veterinarian within seven days of taking your pet home. By signing below, you are accepting full responsibility for the animal’s medical needs past this point. When adopting from JCACC, we expect you to make a lifetime commitment to the care of the animal. If you ever find yourself unable to properly care for the animal, you agree by signing below that you will return the animal to our facility instead of rehoming it. Please note that we have the right to refuse an adoption for any reason.
